As a small Kelowna agency, we are responsive, affordable and
reliable. Because we have big agency experience, we bring
conceptual and strategic thinking to every project we tackle.
What We Do
Featured Work
Here’s what we’ve been up to lately. Scroll down further to see more of our work.
APBC - A World Without Paramedics
Here's a massive campaign we made for Ambulance Paramedics of British Columbia. These ads ran everywhere from Canucks games to cinemas and generated enormous buzz.
This ad won gold at the 2015 International Summit Awards.

Kelowna Print Advertising
Our ads are conceptual. They tell stories. They’re anything but ordinary,
because everyday ads are forgettable, invisible, and ineffective.
The Umbrella Shop
Whimsical, elegant, and magical. The Umbrella Shop wanted to tell a love story through stylish photography. Immersion joined forces with photographer Matthew Chen and Co. to create this campaign.
With MS, signals from the brain fail to reach the body. This can lead to a sudden loss of movement in the limbs, paralysis, or even blindness. It's a degenerative disease that forces a body to betray itself. The MS Society is fighting to end this malady. And they could use your help.
The epic photography took the idea to the next level. It was recently selected as an Applied Arts winner and it won a silver at the Summit International Awards.
Wolfes teaches special ops fighting tactics. Their headquarters is in Point Grey. So we decided to target curious UBC students and travellers. We made the ads look like zombie apocalypse movie posters and launched on the premiere of the Walking Dead.
Ghosts. Bad vibes. Crazy roommates. Sometimes there's no time to wait. You need to evacuate and you need to do it now. Thankfully there are companies like Short Notice Movers.
Look around and you'll see a sea of lousy loan ads pandering to the lowest common denominator. Loan Express wanted to set forth in a new, thoughtful direction. They came to us because they know that ads with concepts sink in. And they work swimmingly.
It gets cold here in Canada. If your furnace goes out in the middle of winter - it’s bad news. This vivid print campaign was featured on Ads of the World.
One thing you'll notice about the Georgia Straight is that almost all of the big, full-colour ads are for developments. With Evan, we wanted to do things a little differently, to stand out from the sea of renderings.
We added some levity to a heavy topic. 10% of all Canadians have criminal records for stupid stuff they did when they were kids. PSC expunges records so they can travel, get a job, and live a normal life.
If your website looks professional, so does your company.
Do you like the cool scrolling effect on this site? We can do it for you.
Strategic Natural
Resource Consultants Inc.
Strategic wanted a sophisticated site to showcase their new branding and message. When you grow from Forestry to Natural Resource Consulting you need talk to match your walk.
Explore this majestic park in Haida Gwaii via a virtual hike. Visit the Tow Hill blowhole, the trailhead, and viewpoints from Rose Spit and Hiellen River. Then, come visit the park IRL.
This ad won bronze at the 2015 International Summit Awards.
McCue wanted a site that was modern, sophisticated and positioned them as a leader in in-situ water remediation for the mining, industrial and oil & gas sectors.
Just like Jackie Chan, we do our own stunts.
They don’t cost you anything in media, and yet you get press.
Sempio BBQ Sauce
When your brand has the opportunity to turn a static ad into a moving one - you run with it. People are drawn to fun like a moth to an all-night rave. Here’s how it looks when the doors are moving. This ad won silver at the 2015 International Summit Awards.
Do kids behave better in December? You bet they do. Knowing that someone is watching keeps you in check. How many times can you buy Cheetos before thinking, you know, the good doctor might be right?
Disney had US $200 to promote their Halloween Night Pass, so we spent the money on actresses and monster costumes and the rest on garlic.
(Ogilvy & Mather Hong Kong 2007)
Eggs, Milk, Soup, Bread. The average grocery list is a mess. It has you doubling back and forth from one section to another. To make the experience more efficient and enjoyable, Buy-Low Foods gave away a free memo pad/shopping list designed around the floor plan of the store. It's 25 pages with a magnetic backing to keep on your fridge at home. And with a list in one place, it keeps shoppers coming back and buying more than ever.
We turned expensive Canpages (Yellow Pages) ads into laminated envelopes and mailed them back to their owners with an offer to take them online for half the price.
Transit is one of the cheapest, yet most effective mediums in Kelowna.
It’s a moving billboard that stays up for months, for a fraction of the cost of print.
APBC - A World Without Paramedics
Inside Skytrains and buses, and on the backs and sides as well - everywhere you turn, these haunting ads are there.
The client wanted dark and scary, so we created the most disturbing campaign we could think of.
Most ads for real estate are pretty boring. And they all look the same after a while. This developer wanted something totally unique to match its excellent USP. Dreamy, high-concept photography is one of our specialties, so we were a good fit.
"As anyone who follows pop culture knows, there’s a rarefied few artists who don’t need two names: Madonna, Slash, and Eminem. On that front, give it up, Kelowna house shoppers, for the mono-named marvel Anthea, whose billboards, bus ads, and personalized website proudly bill her as “The only name to know in Kelowna Real Estate”. Kind of like Bono, but for those interested in living in Yaletown rather than two doors down from the Joshua tree in a red hill mining town where the streets have no name."
This campaign ran on the backs of 35 buses in Kelowna, and in the interiors of 50, for almost ten weeks - all for less than the price of a full-page ad in a major newspaper.
There are dozens of schools in Kelowna and they all advertise on transit. So how do you stand out? Conceptual headlines in bright, vivid red is a good way to turn a small media buy into a big attention-getter.
With TV comes credibility. And it’s not as expensive as you think.
We do live action, motion graphics and kinetic type. Let’s talk brass tacks.
Loan Express - Foiled!
It shouldn’t be this hard to get a little cash. Next time, 10-15 years from now, our protagonist should use Loan Express. Fast. Safe. Simple. Anytime. Day or Night. This ad will be airing on APTN and possibly on stations and billboards near you - very soon.
This ad won silver at the 2015 International Summit Awards.
Strategic - UAV
When you have an $80,000 kick-ass drone, you want to show that baby off. Infrared. Super-zoom. High-tech surveying capacity. This UAV has it all. Strategic was thinking Predator. I think we nailed it.
Sempio BBQ Sauce
Here’s a catchy little number we did for a Korean BBQ sauce. This campaign was featured across Canada on the Food Network.
Loan Express
Have you ever stalled for time? Sometimes, those few... extra... seconds... can make or break your evening. Because that's how long it takes to get money from Loan Express. Anytime, day or night.
Dr. Bernstein
Karen's Story
Testimonials can be dry - so we used cartoon animation to add some pizzazz to our inordinately authentic spokespeople.
We wanted to maximize our media buy, so we used a consistent message and look across all mediums. 360 degree branding can help a campaign seem bigger than it is. It’s also efficient, as you don’t have to completely win a viewer’s attention to tell a new story each time.
We did this in the style of horror movie trailers. It’s spooky - but not as scary as a winter without heat.
Auburn Retirement Residences
“You get your own garden???” Was the most common reaction we got to this ad. Mission accomplished.
The Peak 100.5
Don’t you hate it when the drive stops before your song?
Pardon Services Canada
Everyone makes mistakes. Casting my girlfriend as the party girl was not one of them.
Kelowna Radio Advertising
Most radio is wallpaper for the ears. We do it differently.
Our ads tell stories. Sometimes very, very strange ones.
Dr. Bernstein - Gameshow
Some many benefits, so little time. These “game show” style spots were featured on the Peak 102.7. We effectively doubled the frequency of our media buy through 15 second spots book-ended at the front and back of the commercial break.
Dr. Bernstein - Bootcamp
The only thing worse than 5 a.m. bootcamps are your friends that go. They're always hungry, sore, grouchy or tired. Do them a favour and recommend the no-sweat Dr. Bernstein diet in the New Year.
This spot is playing on Sonic 104.9.
Simmons Mattress Gallery - King Henry
Why would six women stick with this scoundrel for so long? This spot won a Summit Award in 2006.
Alpine Credits - Stop That Jingle
The client told me that every time this ad played, the phone rang.
Clean Energy Canada
More jobs, less pollution - renewably powered LNG seems like a no-brainer.
So who better to remind the government of its environmental commitments than some madcap voice over actors?
Events and Adventures
Finally, the traffic report has good news. This just in: Active couples are finding love all over Seattle.
Alpine Credits - Santa
It’s one thing to act like Santa. It’s another to think you are Santa.
VSA - The Power of Price
Let the power of price compel you! This eerie ad possessed the airwaves for one night only: Halloween 2013.
CampbellCare - Winter
Keeping on with the cold campaign that ran on transit, TV, and print.
Mattress Choice - Better Dreams
If your dreams are getting lame - you need a better bed.
Kelowna Branding & Strategy
We have branding kits for new businesses and refresher kits
for established companies who want a modern look.
Alpine Credits
I spent time in the offices of Alpine Credits. Everything from the way they answered the phone, to sit-in meetings with their new clients, found its way into the look, feel and tone of a brand we refreshed from the 80s to now.
We completely re-engineered McCue's brand to better position them for a more lucrative market. We gave them a new tagline, look, logo, newsletter, stationery, website and even a new name.
We built the PRIMED brand from scratch. It went from one tutorial with four students to becoming a nation-wide brand, recognized by the Canadian Nursing Association, with 10 classes a year in 5 cities across Canada (all sold-out), an iPhone app, a lucrative online quiz and a successful business model that runs itself.
We're always a step ahead*. Mike has been shooting brands to the top of Google for almost a decade. And we've been building Kelowna social media kits since the day that Twitter appeared. Banners. Apps. Digital Strategy. We're well seasoned in this arena.
*Immersion now accepts Bitcoin.
Dr. Bernstein Diet
& Health Clinics
We did these banners in a fun "game show" style using our characters from TV: Karen and Lee. These banners integrate well with the radio currently playing on the Peak.
You want to fix up your figure. How about your resolution? Why stop at 20 when you can lose 30? With Bernstein you're in the clear. This spot won a Summit Award in 2014.
With Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation coming into effect July 1st, J Ross Recruiters did not want to lose their current mailing list. So we made them a fun and unique campaign to encourage their current list to subscribe to their newsletters.
We used to work for the clients of big agencies. Now we just work for clients. With the middleman gone we charge a lot less for the same product.
There are downsides to buying direct, of course. We don't have secretaries, fancy lounges, or expense accounts. Sorry. We don't smoke cigars or drive fancy cars. In other words, you don't have to pay for any nonsense.
Just ideas and hard work.

Mike Catherall founded Immersion Creative in 2008. Previously, he was an award-winning copywriter for international agencies Ogilvy & Mather and Publicis for accounts such as Disneyland, Western Union and Mercedes-Benz.
When we called Mike, we had an idea of what we were trying to do but had been unable to articulate it in a coherent way to others. Mike helped us organize our thoughts and worked with us to develop a concept that clearly describes who we are to potential clients. The best thing about working with Mike was that he became a key part of our team, described to us decisions that had to be made and provided expert advice on the implications of our decisions. The end result: a product that we love and feel is our own, but could not have happened without Mike's expertise and insight.
Rob Miller
Miller Titerle LLP
Immersion Creative was vital to the growing success of our business. We had a good product, but nobody knew about us. Through social marketing and creative advertising Mike helped us acquire 540% more students.
Laura Housden and Marlene Burrows
PRIMED Educational Associates
We are a twenty-year old company which has gone through several different identities and images. Mike Catherall's approach was that of a genuine stakeholder. He spent time in the office, researched our business and competitors, and gained an implicit understanding of what we did and what we stood for. He articulated his understanding and defined us to the marketplace, and indeed to ourselves. The staff are proud and the market views us as genuine (in a marketplace of glib, commonplace articulations of identity). His approach is unconventional but it works - we are making more money.
Azmairnin Jadavji
CEO, Pardon Services Canada
Working with Immersion was inspiring. Young, energetic and creative...this company makes good things happen. I recommend them without hesitation.
Shaun Korman
Strategic Forest Management Inc.
I got a random call yesterday from someone who just "wanted to congratulate us on an amazing campaign." I also got a call tonight from someone who wants to buy a condo. I'll be meeting with him next Sat so keep you posted:) So all in all, stellar feedback on the campaign from my colleagues, randoms and potential clients. Thank you!
Anthea Poon
REMAX Select Realty
Mike’s creativity, passion and drive for perfection have helped our organization move into the next
phase of our brand existence. I would recommend Immersion Creative to any company looking for a fresh approach to their advertising campaign.
